We fight for human rights and equality in the ways we know how: curriculum, professional development, and engagement

Now, more than ever, we believe in the value of curriculum and instruction that encourages student voice, creativity, and purpose. In response, we open up our Global Peace course, to support educators facilitating difficult conversations and empowering students to lead the change they wish to see in the world.

Context matters. Today, systemic disregard for human decency and unalienable rights is modeled by the most powerful position in the world. It is within this context that we educate our students, many of whom already feel powerless and disenfranchised. At Global Learning Models, we fight for human rights and equality in the ways we know how: curriculum, professional development, and engagement. These are the ideals that infuse our inquiry and project-based curriculum. We simply ask: if it doesn’t make the world better, why are we bothering to teach it?

Students go to school to care about something. To connect with someone. To discover and achieve their potential within the context of the world. Students go to school to believe that theirs is a future worth living. So today, more than ever, we must be honest in order to earn their trust. We must be credible to earn their respect. We must model Global Citizenship for them as professionals and as people. And we must follow their lead when they show us new ways to see ourselves and our future.

So, use math and science and language and history and arts to draw them out, to understand, empathize, collaborate with, and advocate for our youth and their precarious future. More than ever before, offer them pathways to discover beauty in the world, and the skills with which to cultivate that beauty, so they become active citizens who fight to preserve it.
